Pursuit

By: Bobby Pancake

The start of a new year brings goals, resolutions, and good intentions—but what really matters is direction. That is why our 2026 theme is Pursuit. As Abraham Lincoln wisely said, “Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.” That is what pursuit requires—focus, effort, and discipline.

“ Pursuit is not about arrival or achievement alone; it’s about motion and positive momentum.” Bobby Pancake

Too often, New Year’s resolutions are about destinations—numbers to hit, habits to change, outcomes to reach. But pursuit shifts the focus from the finish line to the path. It asks better questions: Who am I becoming? What direction am I heading? What disciplines am I willing to practice consistently? Confidence grows when clarity improves, and momentum builds when effort is repeated. The results that matter most are earned through intentional, disciplined choices.

At the heart of pursuit is character. Who you are when no one is watching determines where you are headed when everyone is. Character fuels commitment, and commitment demands consistency—showing up, doing the work, and honoring the standard even when it is hard or inconvenient.Pursuit is not a burst of motivation; it is a long obedience in the same direction.

This year also marks the Semiquincentennial of the United States—the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. It’s a powerful reminder that progress—personal, organizational, or national—has never been accidental. Our country was built by men and women who pursued something bigger than themselves with courage, discipline, sacrifice, and shared responsibility. That same mindset applies today.

“Pursuit is strengthened through calling and connection—knowing why your work matters and recognizing that we move farther and stronger together.” Bobby Pancake

As we begin this new year, let’s pursue with intentionality: clarity over confusion, confidence over complacency, character over compromise, commitment over convenience, consistency over chaos, calling over comfort, and connection over competition.  Pursuit is not about where you have been or how fast you move—it is about the direction you choose and the discipline you apply. Let’s step into 2026 focused, aligned, and determined— chasing the right things, the right way, for the right reasons.
